Becoming Iyalaje Oodua represents far more to me than the honour of holding a prestigious traditional title. It represents a profound responsibility, a call to service, and a commitment to the rich cultural heritage, enduring values, and collective progress of the Yoruba people.

My journey has strengthened my belief that true greatness is not measured solely by wealth, recognition, or personal accomplishments, but by the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the positive difference we make in our communities. I have always believed that whatever blessings God places in our hands should become instruments through which others can find hope, dignity, and opportunities to fulfil their potential.

To me, being Iyalaje Oodua means embracing the responsibility to encourage enterprise, support women, inspire young people, preserve our traditions, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our society. It is about building bridges between our glorious heritage and the opportunities of the modern world.

I consider this title a privilege that must be honoured through humility, integrity, compassion, and purposeful action. Every opportunity to serve is an opportunity to make a difference, and every life positively influenced is a reminder of why leadership must always be rooted in service.

My greatest aspiration is that the name I carry will be associated not only with honour, but with hope, empowerment, generosity, and a lasting commitment to humanity.

My vision is to see a society where every woman, every young person, and every aspiring entrepreneur has a genuine opportunity to grow, succeed, and contribute to economic development. I believe that talent is everywhere, but access to opportunity is not always equal. Many people possess brilliant ideas, extraordinary skills, and the determination to succeed, yet they lack the financial resources, mentorship, connections, or support necessary to turn their dreams into reality.

As Iyalaje Oodua, I want to encourage an environment where women are respected as economic contributors and leaders, where young people are given the confidence and resources to build sustainable businesses, and where local entrepreneurs can access partnerships that help them expand beyond their immediate communities.

I believe strongly in the power of enterprise to transform lives. When a woman builds a successful business, she often creates opportunities for her family and others around her. When a young entrepreneur succeeds, employment opportunities emerge, innovation grows, and communities become economically stronger.

My goal is to encourage practical initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, business collaboration, skills development, mentorship, market access, and the sharing of knowledge. I also want to inspire established business leaders to recognise the value of supporting emerging entrepreneurs and investing in the next generation.

Economic empowerment must go beyond giving people temporary assistance. It should equip them with the knowledge, confidence, resources, and opportunities to become self-reliant and create value for others.

My dream is to see more women become business owners, more young people become employers rather than job seekers alone, and more African businesses grow into sustainable enterprises that create wealth, dignity, and opportunities for generations.

Our Yoruba heritage is one of our greatest treasures. It carries the wisdom of our ancestors, the beauty of our language, the richness of our traditions, the dignity of our institutions, and the values that have sustained our communities across generations. I believe that preserving this heritage is not simply about remembering our past; it is about ensuring that its wisdom continues to guide our future.

As Iyalaje Oodua, I recognise the importance of encouraging respect for our traditional institutions, promoting Yoruba language and cultural expression, supporting our festivals and creative industries, and inspiring younger generations to understand the significance of their identity.

At the same time, I believe that cultural preservation should move hand in hand with innovation. We must embrace technology, education, entrepreneurship, and modern business practices without losing the values that make us who we are. Our culture should not be confined to history books or ceremonial occasions; it should remain a living source of inspiration, creativity, enterprise, and unity.

I envision greater collaboration among traditional rulers, cultural organisations, educators, entrepreneurs, technology innovators, and the creative industry to document our heritage, promote cultural tourism, support local artisans, and introduce younger people to the stories and values of our ancestors.

We must create opportunities for our traditions to be appreciated internationally while ensuring that the communities that sustain them benefit economically and socially.

My belief is simple: we must honour our roots while preparing our people for the future. A people who understand their identity can engage confidently with the world, embrace progress without losing themselves, and pass a proud and meaningful heritage to generations yet unborn.

What touches me most deeply is the knowledge that there are people with dreams, talents, and great potential who simply need an opportunity, a helping hand, or someone willing to believe in them. I believe that behind every struggling family is a human story, behind every young person is a possibility, and behind every community is the potential for transformation.

I am particularly passionate about initiatives that promote women’s empowerment, youth development, education, entrepreneurship, social welfare, and the wellbeing of vulnerable members of society. I believe that humanitarian service should be guided by compassion, but it must also be practical, sustainable, and responsive to the real needs of the people it seeks to serve.

My aspiration is to encourage programmes that help people develop the skills to earn a living, support children in pursuing education, create opportunities for women to establish businesses, and help communities access resources that improve their quality of life.

To me, meaningful service is not about the publicity that comes with giving. It is about the relief a struggling mother feels when she receives genuine support, the confidence a young person gains when someone invests in their future, and the renewed hope of a family that begins to see a way forward.

I also believe that lasting impact requires collaboration. Traditional institutions, businesses, government agencies, charitable organisations, and individuals can achieve much more when they work together with a shared sense of responsibility.

To our women, I say: never underestimate the power of your ideas, your intelligence, your resilience, or your contribution to society. Your dreams are worthy of pursuit. Continue to develop yourselves, support one another, build meaningful networks, and create opportunities not only for yourselves but also for the women and girls who will follow your example.

To our young entrepreneurs, I encourage you to remain courageous, disciplined, innovative, and persistent. Success may not always come quickly, but every honest effort, every lesson learned, and every challenge overcome can contribute to your growth. Build businesses that solve real problems, create value, treat people fairly, and contribute to the development of society.

Above all, I encourage everyone to remember where they come from, respect the dignity of others, and use whatever opportunities they possess to make a positive difference.

I pray that the next generation will inherit a Yoruba society that is culturally confident, economically stronger, compassionate, innovative, and united in its pursuit of progress.

My greatest dream is to leave behind a legacy that does not end with me—a legacy that inspires others to serve, empowers people to rise, encourages businesses to create opportunities, and reminds every generation that greatness finds its truest meaning in the good we do for humanity.

My message to the people of Yorubaland, Nigerians, and the global community is one of unity, hope, compassion, and shared responsibility. I believe that despite our differences in background, beliefs, experiences, and circumstances, we all share a common desire for peace, dignity, opportunity, and a better future for our children.

As Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade, I believe that our greatest strength lies in our ability to come together, respect one another, celebrate our diversity, and work collectively toward the advancement of humanity. Our Yoruba heritage teaches us the importance of community, respect for elders, perseverance, hospitality, and the responsibility to contribute to the wellbeing of others. These values remain relevant in today’s world and can serve as a foundation for stronger relationships and sustainable development.

I want to encourage our people, especially our women and young people, to believe in their abilities, embrace education and innovation, pursue entrepreneurship, and become active contributors to the progress of their communities. We must create an environment where talent is nurtured, hard work is rewarded, opportunities are expanded, and no one is discouraged from pursuing a meaningful future because of their circumstances.

I also believe that development requires cooperation across traditional institutions, government, businesses, civil society, and the international community. By building meaningful partnerships, sharing knowledge, supporting enterprise, and investing in human potential, we can address challenges more effectively and create opportunities that benefit present and future generations.
